BACK TO SCHOOL, A CHANCE TO GET BACK TO NORMAL FOR OUR KIDS
It’s a sure sign that summer is coming to an end when students, parents and teachers prepare to head back to school. This year, what is normally a routine transition, is a pivotal moment for families affected by the floods.   (more)

MATH & SCIENCE MATTERS – UNI LEADS THE WAY

MAKING COLLEGE MORE ACCESSIBLE BY WORKING TOGETHER
A new Web site, www.TransferInIowa.org, allows students to know at the time of enrollment in a community college course whether the credit will be accepted by the state university to which they plan to transfer.   (more)

REBUILD IOWA OFFICE IS A CENTRALIZED RESOURCE
Created by Governor Culver's executive order, the new Rebuild Iowa Office serves as the state’s primary recovery coordinator and clearinghouse. The duties of the office include coordinating the work of state agencies in responding to this year's storms, maximizing federal assistance to the state  (more)

HELP FOR OUT-OF-WORK IOWANS
A disaster recovery program is putting unemployed Iowans back to work repairing this year’s flood and tornado damage. Iowa has received $17.1 million from the U.S. Department of Labor for an Emergency Public Jobs Program.   (more)
